Philadelphia's Hoots and Hellmouth are the duo of singer-songwriters Sean Hoots and Andrew Gray (he's Hellmouth), augmented by other musicians as needed. They call their sound "new music for old souls," and it has elements of alt-country, classic folk, punk, and jam-band freedom. This band blends the tangled roots of American music in a fierce and fiery alchemy, with soulful three-part harmonies mixed with stringed things and foot stomps, building a synergy that bursts from the stage. For the last five years it has become a yearly tradition for The Ragbirds to present this unique, family-friendly holiday show. The songs and artists change from year to year, but the spirit of the event is community, its soul is creativity, and each show is unforgettable. “Ebird”, of course, is Erin Zindle, lead singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist of The Ragbirds. Erin’s budding childhood love of music was sparked at Christmastime. The holidays were the one time yearly that the entire Zindle family gathered to sing songs together and that early, communal experience of music took deep roots. In “Ebird & Friends” she draws on these roots and uses her creative energy to bring new life to holiday favorites with the help of her many talented musical guests. Fiddles, horns, bagpipes, guitars, and instruments from all over the world will be sounding their voices together in harmony. Expect to be entertained, surprised, cheered and warmed by this collaborative performance of new and old songs. Featured artists include Jill Jack, Lindsay Lou (Lindsay Lou & The Flatbellys), Sean Ike (Third Coast Kings), Katie Lee (Appleseed Collective), Laith Al-Saadi, and Jess McCumons (The Understorey).

The daughter of the famed Polish-Canadian mathematician Irving Kaplansky (who once wrote a song based on the first 14 digits of pi that his daughter has been known to perform), Lucy Kaplansky started out singing in Chicago bars. Then, barely out of high school, she took off for New York City. There she found a fertile community of songwriters and performers—Suzanne Vega, John Gorka, Bill Morrissey, Cliff Eberhardt, and others—where she fit right in. She's a singer-songwriter with an extraordinary feel for the range of human emotion. With special guest Count This Penny.
