Reverend Horton Heat

Back in the day, there was an episode of MTV’s Beavis & Butthead — those two dumbass couch potatoes who perpetually sat and critiqued MTV — when a Reverend Horton Heat video came on. “Yeah, yeah, it’s a psychobilly freakout,” says Beavis. “This dude’s weird,” says Butthead, adding this gem of an analogy: “It’s country music after you’ve been playing Centipede for four hours.” That’s exactly the music the Reverend Horton Heat plays — and the man (and his band) do it with complete and undeniable style. Wayne “The Train” Hancock, Deke Dickerson and DJ Del Villareal also play.
