Ash / The Hounds Below / Hawk & Son
Back in the late ’90s and early ’00s, Northern Ireland’s Ash was one of the most popular indie rock bands in Britain. Such albums as 1977 and Nu-Clear Sounds saw them evolve from youthful alt-pop scallywags into Stooges-obsessed sleaze-hounds, though as the fuzz and feedback increased the tunes didn’t get any less catchy. The band rose to the point that they were headlining Brit festivals like Glastonbury and Reading, and then they kinda disappeared for a while. Now they’re back, touring the United States no less, and we’ll get to bop to such tunes as “Kung Fu” and “Girl From Mars” all over again. The Hounds Below will give them a run for their money, mind. Hawk & Son also plays.
