Coheed & Cambria
It has been a full 10 years since Coheed and Cambria released their debut The Second Stage Turbine Blade album, and the Nyack, N.Y., band has seen its stock rise from tricky-dicky punk kids to respected prog-metal titans. It doesn’t hurt that, like Tool, they really can play like motherfuckers while kicking ass at the same time, and the tunes are spectacular — bordering on epic. The week that the band arrives in Detroit will coincide with the release of the second part of the Afterman pair of albums, this one tagged Descension, so expect to hear plenty from that as well as last year’s Ascension.
