Contorted Opening Reception

Hamtramck’s Public Pool has had a number of inventive shows since it opened a few years ago. The gallery’s latest, Contorted, is a group show by five female artists, all of whom root their artistic expression in the body. Some use their own bodies in video or performance, others make collages of the human body, but all of them will be somehow warped or distorted, either playfully or simply to show how our bodies change over time. That said, these female artists do have a knack for humor, deadpan or otherwise, so you should expect some laughter in the mix. Viewing hours will be 1-6 p.m. Saturdays, show will remain up until Feb. 9.
