Third Eye Blind
To some, Third Eye Blind is everything that’s wrong with rock ’n’ roll music today. Those radio-friendly crunch riffs and the excruciatingly “felt” lyrics just don’t sit right with many people who feel that bands like TEB took all of the good work done by the grunge brigade in the ’90s and landed a hefty dump on it. However, the other perspective is that Third Eye Blind picked up Cobain’s torch and carried it forward to its logical conclusion — namely, mainstream radio respectability. The fact that the band is playing the Fillmore — and that you can pretty much guarantee that the venue will be full — proves that it is the band having the last laugh.
