Tristan Prettyman
On the surface, it seems like Tristan Prettyman is as un-Detroit as a female artist can be. Not that she doesn’t like our home (we don’t think), but that the L.A. native just doesn’t have anything in common with us. She’s a former model at the famous Roxy club, she used to date Jason Mraz, and she looks like one of those L.A. Zooey Deschanel or Katy Perry knock-offs who seem to be filling up the screens and charts. She’s the living definition of L.A. hipster, but the weird thing is, her songs are surprisingly good. She sounds like she means what she writes, so maybe she has more in common with Detroit musicians than we initially gave her credit for.
