Motion City Soundtrack
The Motion City Soundtrack has been around since ’97, and the Minneapolis boys still confound and confuse critics. The trouble seems to be that nobody knows how to categorize them. They were signed to Epitaph Records but aren’t really a punk band. They were signed to Columbia but had very little in the way of mainstream success — no surprise since their sound isn’t mainstream either. The fact is that it’s practically impossible to put MCS in a box, and we love them for it. They remain challenging yet gloriously melodic, and they’ve retained a strong cult following. Now, Now and Jukebox, the Ghost go on first.
