Alkaline Trio
The Alkaline Trio has managed to achieve the near-impossible: The band is taken seriously by both emo kids and the elitist old punk rockers. They deserve the elusive accolade too; these guys have an arsenal of awesome songs and they aren’t afraid to use them. Here’s a little story to tickle your interest too — MT scribe Brett Callwood once “dirty danced,” Swayze-style, with Alkaline Trio singer Matt Skiba at the Kerrang! Awards in London while he was a writer for that heavy metal mag. We have it on good authority that both parties were hammered on absinthe, and the tricky “lift” was attempted — ending in a fail.
