This new breakfast series hosted by Quicken Loans and Skidmore Studios aims to promote creativity in the Motor City by presenting 20-minute lectures by design experts. Both local and national speakers will be featured, offering insights into every aspect of design, including, graphic, industrial and interactive design, as well as the latest trends in the field. The inaugural event features author, teacher and open web evangelist Molly E. Holzschlag. 9 a.m. at Madison Building, 1555 Broadway St., Detroit; see facebook.com/risedesigndet. Holzschlag will also be the speaker at Refresh Detroit, featuring a deeper discussion of open web technology, at 6 p.m. at the Madison Building. Both events are free.
