The frenetic, insightful and dark comedy of Moshe Kasher has been earning the West Coast-bred comedian national attention. Since iTunes dubbed him the best new comic of 2009, his schedule has been a flurry of festival gigs and late-night talk shows, but he still found the time to pen a memoir about his youthful misadventures, Kasher in the Rye: The True Tale of a White Boy from Oakland Who Became a Drug Addict, Criminal, Mental Patient, and Then Turned 16. OK, misadventures may be a bit of an understatement. Kasher reads from his hilarious and harrowing tale of redemption from 8-10 p.m. at the Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit, 4454 Woodward Ave., Detroit; 313-832-6622; free.
