Concours d’Elegance of America

Classic car fans, your dreams have come true. The 34th Annual Concours d’Elegance of America pulls into Plymouth this week, featuring all kinds of rides, including early motorcars, ‘vettes, Jags, Trans Ams, Duesenbergs, supercars, slingshot dragsters, jet-age station wagons, the largest Pierce Arrow ever made, and a Topolov, a no-wheel hovercraft-style vehicle. The event marks its second year at the scenic, 200-acre grounds of the Inn at St. John’s, with 300 history-making vehicles on view, collectively valued at more than $10 million. For total gearheads, there are three days of auto-related events leading up to the big day, including racing events at Waterford Hills Raceway, a VIP tour of the Edsel & Eleanor Ford House in Grosse Pointe, a classic car restoration symposium, a vintage car auction, a charity gala and more, but the big event takes place 10 a.m.-4 p.m. on Sunday at 44045 Five Mile Rd., Plymouth; $25 includes free parking, shuttle and program book, children 12 and younger free with adult admission; for more info, call 248-643-8645 or see concoursusa.org.
