Terrance Simien & the Zydeco Experience
Terrance Simien and his Zydeco Playboys — a Grammy-winning ensemble — bring the spirit of Nawlins to another city with a French-derived name, yeah, Day-twa. He’s the conical-hatted embodiment of a grinning, unhinged boogie with his rollicking accordion and honeyed/booming, French-accented vocals, backed rubboard percussion (i.e. “washboard” or, properly, frottoir), soulful electric bass, sun-singed guitar and vigorous, relentless percussion. At PJ’s Lager House, 1254 Michigan Avenue, Detroit; 313-961-4668.
