"Our 60+ seat Italian bistro is as warm as the original tin ceiling and hardwood floors suggest. Perhaps you may recognize the long bar from a legendary Detroit restaurant. Either way, the wonderful aroma of Italian cuisine, creative and upbeat, will warm you in the end. The attire is casual and the food is the best on legendary Erie Street East! Come in and try our popular specials, made from the freshest ingredients of the moment!"
"Our specialty is BBQ ribs, but our broasted chicken is also the best -- all served in a comfortable and pleasant family atmosphere. We've been in business 23 years! Good food and service; lunch specials from $4.95 (11 a.m.-4 p.m., Mon.-Fri.). Movie and dinner packages available."
Daily specials. Voted outstanding ribs at the U of M tailgate party cooking contest sponsored by WWJ. Banquet facilities.
Amici’s Pizza fans in Berkley, Southfield and Birmingham now have their favorite gourmet pizza closer at hand. In addition to takeout and delivery service, the new Amici’s has a small sit-down dining area, freshly painted in warm, fresco-like colors. Free pizza samples are often distributed while you wait for your order. Owner George Stark stresses that Amici’s uses only the freshest ingredients for its long list of specialty pizza toppings, from artichoke hearts to roasted garlic and fontina cheese. Vegan combos and tofu cheese are also on the menu. The tomato sauce is made with fresh herbs, hand-stripped from the stem. Stark says Amici’s goes through four pounds of fresh thyme and 40 pounds of freshly roasted garlic each week. They prepare 15 specialty combinations, including the customer favorite — blackened chicken with scallions, Monterey Jack cheese and tomato-herb sauce — or you can build your own, on traditional or whole wheat crust. All pizzas are topped with Amici’s signature fresh herb sprig. Amici’s also serves salads with homemade dressings, soft breadsticks, specialty sandwiches and lasagna.
The sunflower yellow and purple color scheme and huge tilted mirrors that allow patrons to glimpse those sitting behind them have given the space a slickly contemporary look. The food is in contrast: It’s the solid Italian fare of old master Aldo Ottaviani interpreted by a crew of young chefs in the open kitchen.
"Excellent cuisine in an intimate setting. Extensive list of traditional Italian items, also featuring non-traditional Milanese dishes like osso bucco and risotto."
The new Andiamo complex on Grand River’s Main Street in Novi.
Located on Main Street in the heart of downtown Royal Oak, this upbeat and casual restaurant offers classic Andiamo Italian dishes plus a few surprise specialties.
"Bring the whole family in to enjoy one of the finest pizzas in town, made to order in our traditional pizzeria-style oven. Of course, our menu also includes a tempting selection of appetizers, salads and your favorite Italian entrees. Join us soon for the high quality food and service Andiamo diners have enjoyed for years." from Andiamo's Web site.
Both co-owners had Sicilian grandmothers, and both toiled in other people’s restaurants — for a total of 50 years — before making their dream come true. The experience shows, with Italian food (and some extras) at “prices that reflect the new reality” -- at least when it comes to the entrées and the wines. There are only three pasta dishes (four if you count the potato-and-flour gnocchi) and three pizzas. The sophisticated Italian menu is supplemented by some fabulous cured and smoked fish and meats as antipasti and by a few dishes that would be comfortable on any menu, such as New York strip, salmon and a pork chop. Also consider the fitting accompaniments: a pile of flaked Parmigiano-Reggiano with a bit of balsamic; a mound of watercress with a superior lemony dressing; a little metal cup of assorted olives; a puddle of grainy mustard. It’s all good. See the menu and the drinks list at angelinadetroit.com.

Every day for more than thirty years, the Rugerio family has worked hard preparing fresh, authentic Italian dishes. These include famous sauces, homemade hearty pastas, and famous fresh - baked bread.
"We are a family oriented restaurant featuring Greek and Italian dishes. Our Greek sandwiches are the best and our signature salad - Motown Delight - is very popular."

These Californian pop-punks have been raising hell with their ultra-catchy ditties since ’91, which means they’ve been terrorizing youngsters with their hooks for 22 years. Not that we like inflating west coast punk or anything, but holy shit they’ve released some great music in that time. 2002’s How to Ruin Everything album was basically a masterpiece, and the split EP they put out that same year with the Dropkick Murphys wasn’t too shabby either. They broke up in 2004, but got back together in 2008, and now they’re warmed up. Teenage Bottle Rocket, Black List Royals and Joshua Black Wilkins also play.
